On Monday (15th), British Prime Minister Boris Johnson defended last week's joint US-UK airstrikes in Yemen against the Houthi rebels, stating that it was a limited one-time operation aimed at weakening and disrupting the rebels' ability to launch attacks, with no intention of escalating the situation.
Xin Weicheng stresses that if necessary, he will not hesitate to participate in military actions to protect the safety, people, and interests of the United Kingdom. However, the Liberal Democratic Party in opposition is dissatisfied with the government's failure to inform Parliament in advance, believing that Parliament should have the right to speak and vote on military actions.
According to the leader of the opposition Labor Party, Shi Jixian, he supports last week's actions but hopes that the government will adopt a more open-minded attitude in the future. He suggests that if there is a need for military intervention, the reasons should be presented to the parliament and each case should be considered individually. Xing Weicheng also points out that in order to ensure the safety of the operation, it is necessary to expedite the process and there was no opportunity to consult with the parliament.
